Veronica Ibarra, born in Madrid, Spain, in 1973, is an art house writer-director, performance artist, and dancer whose work is rooted in exploring questions of existence and identity through storytelling centered on character embodiment. A graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art in London, she is currently based in Tokyo, where she is directing, writing, and developing films. Influenced by Zen philosophy, particularly the concept of shoshin (the beginner’s mind), her work embraces openness and curiosity, exploring these themes through the character of an android. This android, developed over years of movement and mind work, reflects a liberated, unfiltered version of herself, guiding her artistic vision with depth and authenticity.

Her previous films include the short narrative and experimental pieces The Uncertain Existence, Anatidae, and Night Damage. Veronica’s films have been shown at various venues and events, including La Casa Encendida (Emergencias) in Madrid, Laboral Centro de Arte (Universo Video) for the Gijón International Film Festival, Espacio Oculto (Festival Proyector Madrid), HOME (Filmed Up) in Manchester, the Kinofilm Festival in Manchester, and the Underwire Film Festival in London.
